Last year, this conjoined (aka'Siamese') yellow squash grew in my garden. Yesterday, we found the conjoined ear(s?) of sweetcorn at the Asian market. One conjoined vegetable is an anomaly, two is the beginning of a collection. Considering that I ate both of them, I am hoping that they are not the result of some evil genetic engineering experiment.
If anyone has photos of conjoined vegetables that they'd like to add to the collection, feel free to email me at sue@connext.net. I will post photos as I receive them.
I have come across the occaisional conjoined vegetable in my time working at Biaggi's...most recently a strawberry. I don't have any pictures, though...no one else at work is ever as fascinated by it as I am.

I'm not counting conjoined fruit at this time. I think strawberries are purposely bred to be conjoined, triplets or even quadruplets. But if you should find a conjoined banana, e.g., be sure to let me know...

I found a conjoined banana in my fruit bowl. Are they rare?

Hello Sue,
I tried to send you this email but it came back as undeliverable.
I saw your web page in a search for conjoined vegetables aka "Siamese Twins" after finding three twin yellow summer squash in my garden today; all from different plants. There's not much info on the internet about this stuff.
I live in Warwick, RI but spent the past couple of weeks in Florida where I heard that RI had experienced violent thunderstorms and nickel sized hail while we were in Fl. We came home last week expecting the garden to be in tough shape, but apparently the hail did not occur in Warwick, but rather other parts of the state.
Some of the plants had already begun to produce, but the squash seemed to be developing end rot so I cut them off. I found three three conjoined yellow squash, one that was so small it came apart when I cut it off. I threw that one away. But the other two are shown in the attached photo.
My wife and I plan to eat them tonight but I thought I'd take a few photos of them before we did.
This has never occurred in our garden before, but I'll let you know if we get any more.
Cliff
