Here is a game that I heard about on NPR a while back. It is from Japan and has apparently taken the UK by storm. It only appears in one newspaper in the US as far as I know--and that is the New York Post, which we happened to find a copy of on the Metro recently.
I think this game is a good alternative to crossword puzzles for staving off Alzheimers (or 'Oldtimer's', as we say where I work) disease. To my astonishment, my daughter Am*y finished one last nite with minimal effort and minimal erasing, while I have yet to complete one of similar difficulty (I HAVE done several somewhat easier ones). Just another example of the whole being more than the sum of its parts--very true of ALL of my children.
NOTICE: for all the folks who have also misspelled SuDoku, as I did--here is an even better website to find the puzzles on.. scrolldown on the page until you get to the dated puzzles, and click on them. They are easiest at the beginning of the week, and harder as you go along, with the "Fiendish" ones later in the week. Good luck!
Suduko Click on "Sample Puzzle #1" to view--also an option to print to the right.
P.S. Mz. Smlph--there are numbers but no math is involved. This could keep you busy this summer--and sharpen you for the GRE.
